Raghurai Mahal

The terrace of the vast and magnificent Mardana Mahal can be accessed by two stairways and a wide ramp laid out with horizontal bands of coloured stones. There are therapeutic views of the changing pastoral countryside which grows millet, wheat and mustard.

The representative work of India’s best known photographer and photo journalist – RaghuRai has been commissioned for this Mahal. His work of six decades has literally become the collective memory of India. As a protégé of Henri Cartier-Bresson who nominated young Rai to join Magnum Photos in 1977. This large, white suite with two long gallery walls faces the sunrise. It has two very contemporary bathrooms clubbed together almost as a central sculptural space in glass. It leads from a wide sunny verandah laid out like a palace durrie.

It has a double and a single bed which makes it an ideal choice for a couple or a young family.
